Black Glazed · Alligator Belly Cut Skin

Spliced strips are meticulously and masterfully pieced together in such a way that makes them almost invisible in the finished product. This allows us to utilize the hide to its fullest extent and provides the customer with a beautiful strip of alligator for belt or strap manufacturing.

1 Pieced strips are cut from an alligator hide in one continuous piece from head to tail. This bisects the hide and is considered a premium cut. Due to the nature of this type of strip is not something that we can always provide in every color or finish.

Unspliced strips are similar to the spliced strips in that they are cut from the hide in such a way that the hide is utilized to the fullest extent. The difference being, it is not pieced together but arrives in 3 to 4 separate strips. It will be up to the craftsperson to piece these together themselves.

American Alligator (Alligator Mississippiensis)

The American alligator (alligator mississippiensis) is native to the Southeast USA. Alligator skin comes from alligators that are both farm-raised and captured in the wild, although always bred in the wild. They are hunted in accordance to rules set forth by Louisiana Department of Fish and Wildlife during the regulated alligator hunting season. The American alligator is one of the least bony of the 23 crocodilian species. As a result, the alligator skin is softer and has smoother scales, making it among the most luxurious skins in the leather market.
